Ice Sorceress ~ Blanc Neige
Oct 11th, 2008 by valho
Added another Blanc Neige to my collection recently, both are from Kotobukiya, while the first one is based on the Shining Tears series, photos of her here, the latest addition is based on the Shining Wind series. Not really sure what’s the difference between both though, as I have only seen the anime Shining Tears X Wind and played 1 of the PS2 game xD.
Blanc Neige comes with a removable cape and a wand, her base design is a simple round piece of transparent plastic, unlike the first Blanc Neige that I have which resemble ice.
She’s a pretty nice figure actually, but I am disappointed at her face sculpt though, the expression is different from the prototype. The prototype have a much colder expression that suited her more rather than the smilling expression in the final product.
With the cape removed can really see how slim she is ^_^.
Quite beautfully sculpted but Kotobukiya really need to work on the hair though, it’s just not as nice as those from GSC, Max Factory or Alter.
Overall another good quality figures from Kotobukiya, except for the expression of course. Seems like I been buying more Kotobukiya stuff lately, like Tama-cham, Yuiko and Blanc Neige, good things is Koto stuff is usually a little bit cheaper xD.
A simple shoot this time using white background, decide to use 3 lights instead of the usual two, with one dedicated to the background only.

I just got mine too, almost a month after she is out wtf. The sample was way better in the facial area.
The difference between the Tears and the Wind version is that in Tears she had short hair and a different dressing style. She looks way better in Wind. Wind takes place a year after Tears.
I don’t like the eyes, but the cloak and dress are great. You’re right about the hair. … and I’m just using a plain digital camera pocket size 7.2m.
Shes not perfect but still loveable enough to get a nice spot in your collection.I favor her with her cape.Looks alot cooler
A good figure indeed, perhaps a more colorful background would fit her better since she’s to “bright”, a bright background makes you close your eyes because of so much light
That’s a damn hot dress she wears. Blanc-Neige is a dangerous enticer ^^;
Kotobukiya propose more and more interresting figures, especially for their price, but I am a bit bored of their “style” :/
@Panther~yeah the sample is much better. Ah thanks for the explanation on Wind and Tears ^_^
@Hirvine~for me its the smile haha, yeah the cape and dress is great, just that Koto needs to improve the hair
@Blowfish~She’s still ok, could have been better though
@Belela-san~Choose white bg due to her icy nature xD
@lu-k~haha yeah. Koto figures tends to have a more static pose, though their To Aru figures have a more dynamic poses.
Didn’t know that Shining Wind and Shining Tears are related XD orz
I did read another blog on Blanc Neige, and he too mentioned that the face is not as expected to that of the prototype (and he somehow didn’t like the cape as well). I haven’t seen the proto face before so I’m curious how it’s supposed to look like. Otherwise it’s still a good-looking figure. Are Kotobukiya’s figures tend to be cheaper than the other competitors in general?
@Q~haha yeah they are relelated
The prototype face is more closer to her personality which is the cool type. I think you can still find the pics at HS. Yup koto figures tends to be cheaper, hovering at 5-6k yen but now some of their newer figures have gone up to over 6k yen though
