Fullmetal Alchemist Season 1 Part 1
Nov 19th, 2007 by valho
After getting Fullmetal Alchemist the Movie: Conqueror of Shamballa DVD earlier, it’s only right that I get the TV series DVD as well, especially when Funimation release the first part of season 1 in a nice little box set. I would have love get the single release DVD and the tin box instead but those are quite hard to find now I think, no to mention it’ll cost more. A total of 4 box sets will be release with each season separated into 2 parts; the second parts of season 1 just shipped and will arrive in a week or two.
To quote from my previous post on FMA; “Fullmetal Alchemist (Hagane no Renkinjutsushi), the story takes place in an alternate earth set in the early 20th century. It revolve around the two brothers Edward and Alphonse Elric who trains to become an alchemist (alchemy being one of the main element of the series) in order to revive their death mother. The attempt failed and cost Edward his leg and Alphonse’s body, in an effort to save his brother soul Edward sacrifice his arm to affix Al soul into a suit of armor. Edward lost limps were later replace with automail, a type of advance prosthetic limb.Later the brothers joined the State Alchemist after the suggestion by Roy Mustang a Colonel in the Amestris military’s State Alchemist. Using the resources of the State Alchemist the brothers set out to discover a way for them to restore what they had lost and the brothers’ journey began. The anime run was a 51 episode series from October 4, 2003 to October 2, 2004, while the manga is still running, with 17 volumes already released. The anime diverges from the manga storyline around the mid of the series, since there was not enough material from the manga at the time of production, but this was planned from the start though instead of the middle of production.”
The box set is similar to the Burst Angel box set I posted earlier, so beside the DVDs it comes with 4 guidebooks as well. These compact box set are a real space saver, I think the tin box would have taken the space that can store 2 of these box set.
Nice artwork of Edward and Roy, Mikuru agreed too ^^.
The folder that holds the 4 DVDs, would have prefer to have some artwork on the DVD instead of a transmutation circle.
The guidebooks, the contents are character profiles, some artworks, etc.
A look at some of the contents.
Some screen cap from the DVD.
No Fullmetal Alchemist collection will be complete without the manga that started it all XD.
I really like these series, even get a bit teary eyes when I was watching the ending. Can’t wait to get the rest of the box set so that I can marathon them ^^, the best way to watch a good anime in my opinion. Currently I am reading the manga, which is release up till vol. 14, vol. 15 suppose to be out next month.
