Kanu Uncho 關羽雲長

I got this figure of Kanu quite sometime ago, just never did the shoot till now. Wanted to do some Japanese style setting but it’s was not easy to make, so I just scrap the idea and go for a simple setting XD.
This Kanu is sculpted by Yasuhiro Uchijima and release by Wani Books. There are so many Kanu figures out there that it’s quite hard to choose which to get. This one caught my eyes more because of the gothic lolita dress and she really looks good in it ^^ even though I don’t think she ever wear this in the anime.
Kanu Uncho is one of the character from the anime/manga Ikki Tousen which is well known for its fan service XD. She’s based on Guan Yu, a general from the Eastern Han Dynasty and Three Kingdom era of China, which makes her one of the more powerful character in the anime.
The most impressive part of this figure is probably the hair, just love the way it flows. This also means is quite easy to break them if you’re not careful. There’s a small peg on the hair strand that connects it to the main part of the hair, but it’s pretty much very loose.
Similar to Guan Yu, Kanu also carries a “guandao” known as the Blue Dragon Crescent Blade (Guan Yu’s “guandao” is known as Green Dragon Crescent Blade). It’s been a while since I watched the anime so not really sure if the anime version of the weapon looks like this. The staff itself is made of soft plastic, probably to make it easier to put it on her hand.
The sculpt is pretty good with nice detail on the dress, but she’s mar with some shoddy paint job on some part. Fortunately most of them are not that obvious or are hidden.
A very sweet looking figure of Kanu but the QC could have been better though. Oh it seems I didn’t do any shot of the base, well it’s nothing much really, just a simple white base which I never use ^^. Instead I use a small bamboo mat which looks much better XD.
If these photos are not enough to satisfy your thirst for Kanu head over to shino’s blog for more pics of her.

I got this figure too but while I do like it, I feel somewhat dissapointed as well. A friend has the resin kit version where the front of the corset is removable and you can see her in all her “glory.” I’m a girl, but I wanted it!
The gothic dress does do great justice, but asrafrate does tempt with his comment about the removable corset on the resin kit. hair certainly looks very fragile, wouldn’t want to touch it much
Didnt buy this one, but kinda regret it now.. She’s the best Kanu figurine at the moment.
I’m hoping GSC & Wani will release better Kanu
His!? *flails* I did say I am a girl *lol*
No worries, and Rain I would love to get the kit but finding it would be a mission, and I just cannot afford the price it would cost to get it painted.
I love this figure of Kan-U will get her someday (I hope), to bad its not full cast-off, I remember seeing the resin kit at figure.fm and she was full cast-off on the top
I was missing a Kanu figure, so I grabbed this one as well
(but still in her box… uh-huh)
The best Kanu according to my tastes for now ^^
That’s a nice background you have there, looks large! I’m looking for such big pieces of paper, with that kind of grain, since the one I have are too small, and this is a bit annoying when shooting big figures…
But I have no idea where to look T_T
Would you mind telling me in what kind of store did you find this? ^^
This few roses added brings a lot to the pictures, even if it’s simple. Nice inspiration!
@asrafrate~welcome to my blog ^^. I know how you fell, coz I have seen the resin version as well but the prepainted resin is just too costly
@rain~yeah you wouldn’t want the hair to get caught on anything ^^
@ron~I think Alter might be releasing one of her in school uniform. As for this version, there’s a black gothic dress version coming out, but can’t remember when
@Belela-san~yeah too bad it’s not full cast-off, but she still looks great ^^
@lu-k~time to take her out of the box for some photoshoot ^^. The background is not actually very big, smaller than the usual one I use. It’s about 64cm x 64cm. I got it at a local craft store, got the flowers from there as well ^^. Thought the flowers can add some colors to the shots ^^
I was glad when I bought Kanu, my first online purchase for a figure. Taking pictures of her were a bit of a pain though lol, the spear just wouldn’t stay in her hands and I had to stick the bottom into the ground or rock she was on before I took the picture. I’ve only seen one other Kanu that is equal or perhaps better than this one, but I can’t find her anymore T-T.
Sweet pics. Definitely a nice Kanu. Decided to go for this Kanu and sell off my Orchid Seed Alice in Wonderland version just so I can stick to my rule of just one Ikkitousen character each xD
@AS~my Kanu guandao stay on her hand without a problem though. Alter might release a Kanu in her school unifrom, saw it during the previous Wanfesu
@shino~this version is definitely better than Orchid Seed one ^^
